The Global Forum is an annual international, independent and self-sustained event that brings together more than 300 key policy-makers and public/private stakeholders from more than 30 countries, from all continents, and for the first time it will occur in Canada, in Winnipeg, on October 2017, Monday 2nd & Tuesday 3rd.
The GF in Winnipeg feels natural given the city’s reputation as a growing center of innovation and digital accessibility — solidified by its recent recognition as one of the world’s most intelligent communities — makes it the perfect choice to host the 2017 Global Forum.
The Paris-based Global Forum/Shaping the Future is an internationally recognized think-tank that allows for knowledge exchange and networking among governments at the national, regional and local levels, private and public organizations, and research and development experts.
The Global Forum has often been referred as “the Davos for ICT” by the press of the countries which welcomed the event.
Dedicated to business and policy issues that affect the evolution of the Information Society, it provides a neutral platform for discussion of latest developments in the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) sector and divergent points of view. The Global Forum fosters synergies between suppliers and users of communications applications and assists in connecting practical applications and innovative ideas. It plays a definitive role in fostering new international initiatives and is helping the creation of public-private partnerships, to tackle the future challenges of our fast moving world.
The Global Forum 2017 agenda will address several key questions in direct line with the interest of the IJIS members such as: Cybersecurity, Bio/Open Data, Blockchain…
This 26th edition is coorganized with the University of Winnipeg & Tourism Winnipeg and the support of the City of Winnipeg, Premier of Manitoba and Economic Development of Winnipeg.
It will be the first edition in Canada following the successful previous editions which took place in New York, Stockholm, Brussels, Washington DC, Oulu and Eindhoven in the Netherlands last year.
