IJIS to Hire New Executive Director

IJIS Institute seeks a dynamic leader to serve as its new Executive Director.


The IJIS Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that engages industry’s leading companies in collaboration with a vast array of partners whose constituents include all levels of government; the international technology standards community; as well as engineering and research organizations.  The mission of the IJIS Institute is to unite this broad range of constituents to advance technology innovation to improve information sharing and safeguarding for those who provide public safety and administer justice in our communities.


The Executive Director is the chief executive of the Institute and provides key leadership and management of the organization, with responsibility for overseeing the administration, operations, and programs of the organization. The Executive Director reports to the IJIS Institute Board of Directors.


The successful candidate for this position must have executive leadership experience, a demonstrated record of delivering programs and services to public sector clients, excel at relationship management and partner development, and have keen business, marketing, and communications acumen.


The ideal candidate will possess the experiences and skills necessary to ensure success in the following areas:


  1. Advancing the organization’s mission among its members and partners;
  2. Employing effective communication and public relations skills to raise the profile and reputation of the organization among members, stakeholders and external audiences; use of communication skills to grow the membership base;
  3. Possess a strong network of key contacts that enable IJIS to further its mission and to serve as a foundation to expand membership;
  4. Leading and managing a visible and complex organization across diverse mission and technology areas;
  5. Developing a strong and effective relationship with and supporting a Board of Directors and managing organizational governance issues and structures;
  6. Developing and delivering innovative programs and services and the needed resources to advance the mission of the organization;
  7. Developing, managing and motivating a high-functioning professional staff;
  8. Employing financial and business acumen to ensure short- and long-term stability of the organization’s assets, including development and diversification of sustainable revenue sources;
  9. Understanding of best practices in non-profit management and their implementation; and
  10. Developing and implementing strategic plans and initiatives, and identifying and prioritizing short- and long-term organizational goals, needs and resources.
