Leadership Forums

The IJIS Institute sponsors special domain-specific Leadership Forums to focus on the information sharing and safeguarding needs in courts, corrections, emergency response and Smart-Safe Cities. These Forums are designed to provide practitioner executives and CIOs an opportunity to network with their counterparts and industry, to discuss specific challenges and needs in their practice area, to form potential strategies to overcome technology and system concerns, and to learn about technology and information sharing standards that can provide cost effective solutions.

Funding for the Leadership Forums comes entirely from industry sponsorship fees which cover the travel costs for practitioner attendees and associated meeting costs. The size of the events is intentionally limited in order to ensure there is ample opportunity for rich dialog and learning.

Smart-Safe Cities Technology Forum

Smart communities are embedding advanced technologies into their infrastructure and systems that provide new capabilities and services to improve the quality of life for their citizens. Considering the challenges these new capabilities and services will bring, the IJIS Institute will be hosting a series of Smart-Safe Cities Summits to encourage leveraging investments in smart technology to keep communities safe and prosperous. The Summit will convene a broad range of sharp minds and experts from public policy, national practice associations, government and industry to collaborate and share knowledge to address the emerging opportunities and challenges.  The topics to be discussed include:

  • Infrastructure – Broadband enabled voice and data communications
  • Services – Connecting governments with the public to share information
  • Advanced Technologies – Accelerate Smart-Safe innovation

Although technology promises enormous benefit, it also introduces new challenges ranging from technical to ethical, legal, and social, including information sharing and safeguarding, data sharing and analysis, transparency and privacy. Together we can conquer these challenges and build a better future through innovative and integrated solutions.

The next Smart-Safe Cities Technology Forum will be held in the Fall, 2017. If you are interested in sponsoring practitioner scholarships and the Forum, please contact Michael.Alagna@ijis.org.
