IJIS Badge & Tech Benefit Raises Funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund
Tuesday, May 1, 2018
The IJIS Institute donated $6,500 collected during its annual Badge & Tech Benefit & Awards Dinner to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF). NLEOMF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to telling the story of American law enforcement, honoring fallen officers, and making it safer for those who serve.
The check was presented to NLEOMF on behalf of the member companies of the IJIS Institute and the participants of the 2018 Badge & Tech Benefit & Awards Dinner. The event was held in conjunction with the IJIS Institute National Symposium in February of 2018.
The funds donated by the IJIS Institute will assist NLEOMF in continuing its important work. The organization, headquartered in Washington, DC, built and continues to maintain the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial—the nation’s monument to law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The organization is a principal organizer of the National Police Week observance each May and hosts a Candlelight Vigil each May 13th to honor all fallen officers. In addition, NLEOMF maintains the largest, most comprehensive database of line-of-duty officer deaths, conducts research into officer fatality trends and issues, and serves as an information clearinghouse. The Memorial Fund will open the National Law Enforcement Museum in the Fall of 2018, providing visitors a walk-in-their-shoes experience while working to expand and enrich the relationship shared by law enforcement and the community through the Museum’s educational journeys, immersive exhibitions, and insightful programs.
The next Badge & Tech Benefit & Awards Dinner will be held in early 2019. Opportunities to sponsor the Badge & Tech Benefit are available and recommendations for future donation recipients are being accepted.
