Privacy Technology Summit

The IJIS Institute conducted a special Privacy Summit in conjunction with the 2018 National Symposium. The privacy issues discussed were related to biometrics, cell phones, facial recognition, and other innovative technologies and associated information. The Summit participants examined the use and exchange of personally identifiable information (PII) in the context of information systems and in the dissemination and aggregation of that data. More privacy summits are expected in the future.

Opioid Technology Summit

The Opioid Technology Summit occurred in 2017 and was hosted in conjunction with our partners the National Narcotics Officers Association (NNOA), the Police Foundation (PF), The Police Institute at Rutgers University, and the National Fusion Center Association (NFCA). The Summit provided an opportunity for top government practitioners and industry experts to work together in exploring the intersection of public safety and public health and how these diverse areas can come together to explore technology solutions addressing the opioid crisis. Attendees included government practitioners from across the country including Los Angeles (CA), New Mexico, Fairfax County (VA), Montgomery County (MD), New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania, just to name a few.
